"Rufie" or "Buttons" or "Hum" is what I call her.
She arrived at our yard in southwest Fort Worth, TX on November 11, 2003 and stayed at least until
March 19, 2004 (I was out of the country from March 20-April 4, so she may have been here a bit longer, but she was not seen
any more in Spring 2004). Presumably it was the same female Rufous Hummingbird
that was here from December 25, 2001 to late January 2002, and from December 20, 2002 to April 4, 2003. A female Rufous
Hummingbird arrived in the summer of 2004 (August 3) and overwintered. She (presumably) came again on August
5, 2005 and on August 15, 2006 and again overwintered each winter. See pictures of her on the other Rufous Hummingbird pages.
